The angle of incidence or the inclination of sun rays are different in different times. It is due to the rotation nature of earth. The earth is rotating its own axis( imaginary) in sloppy nature. The slope exposed to the sun receives more temperature than the area away from sun.
In january it will be winter in the northern hemisphere and summer in the southern hemisphere. Temperature will be high in southern hemisphere and temperature will be low in northern hemisphere. Isotherms are widely spaced in southern hemisphere and high temperature belt run in southern hemisphere.
The northern hemisphere receives no vertical impact of sun so the isotherms close and irregular and the temperature will be low
